Now, this might be the most radical topic to start blogging about. Earlier, the title was Scientism but I have changed it to Logicism for reasons described in a comment. The word scientism was perhaps first coined by Carl Sagan. It suited my need best to give a name to the collective set of ideas and opinions that I have developed over time. I am writing down some of its commandments which deems fit to me. Surely, I don’t intend to write down all of them at one stretch but will be building it brick by brick. I believe that I follow this religion. You are free to make your own opinions about my views, follow or not follow it, and even write to me your comments (or suggest some new commandments). The commandments go like this:

1) Every person’s first duty is towards this human race. Nations, religion, caste, creed, family and gender – all come after that. None of our actions should be towards retro-development of human race. It being said, this doesn’t imply that we humans have a right to exploit other species for our undue benefit. The subspecies Homo Sapiens sapiens, as a whole must act like an elder brother taking care of all its brethren species. However, when it comes to the very existence of human species itself, we should leave no stone upturned to safeguard that, even at the cost of some other creatures.

  1. Pardon me for writing this comment ,but according to you do really you mean to say that just because some western country has better facilities compared to your own country ,you would render your service there just because you can be more of service to human race there. If this is so what do you suggest to stop brain drain in our country? If everyone thinks like this do you think that we will ever become a superpower? Once again I am extremely sorry if I hurt your sentiments

  2. Hi GVA!

Gr8 2 c that sumbd replied to my (unfinished) post. Yes u have understood me rightly that v shud try 2 b of maximum use to the human race … independent of whr v r serving it. In my views, brain drain is not really a problem as very few ppl go abroad actually and secondly, whn a person leaves this country, (s)he creates n opportunity for one more of his/her countrymen. Also, over an appreciable period of time, the fruits borne by the labour of the person do trickle down to his/her country – this might be due to increased xpenditure of his/her family, or might be due to his givin back to his country in some form or creatin more opportunities for more of his countrymen.
Having said that, I nowhr imply that one shud search out 4 a place whr (s)he gets the maximum remuneratn.

P.S. I have changed the name to Logicism as I found Scientism 2 b already a word being used for some other sect … just to avoid confusion.

  3. An able man can create an opportunity for himself wherever he is.I am not talking about renumeration.Even on considering only the concept of potential of NRIs,I would like to make the following comment.
People who go abroad are not idiots .They themselves are from some premier institutes like IITs,IIMs etc.But they render thier services to western countries. They get an opportunity to work to thier full potential.I dont blame them. But please think from government’s frame of refernce.Maintaining these institutes require huge sum of money.Government has to maintain the infrastructure of these unstitutes so that they remain what they are i.e. Isles of excellence. In return what do these NRIs give to government in return for the money Government has invested on them?Alomst nothing!Again I dont blame them. But Are they meted out same treatment as are the whites?I know about this since my both maternal uncles were from IITKGP and IITM respectively. When my younger maternal uncle did his M.S in Wiscousin University,he recived a scholarship of 400$ while an american with less grades than him got scholarship of600$.This angers me.Even if you go there with a noble intention, westerners distrust you .So much for being of service to humanity? We should no doubt serve mankind but only if we are allowed to hold our heads high and the society in which we work respects us.Had NRIs stayed and worked in India, they would not have blocked the way of any competent person One man’s ability is never a threat to another

  4. I am sure you haven’t understood me correctly. Also, you have delved into the dangerous territory of generalizing from personal examples.
I believe I can help you in getting rid of your misconceptions, but am not replying here, as I don’t want this comment section to turn to a medium of dialogue for just the two of us. Added to that, you do have the benefit of knowing me personally to clarify your doubts :P

    Cheers,
